
I was sent this 1957 Fender strat for a body refinish. The existing finish was poorly applied, not a particularly nice sunburst and other than a little 'real' wear and tear, was too new looking for the wear on the neck.

Other than the finish it's a really nice guitar, the neck looks as if it has been lightly oversprayed at some point but the lacquer and wear beneath look too be original. All the hardware, pickups, pots, etc. on the guitar look to be original too, the neck is pencil dated 11/57.
I stripped the finish and applied a two tone sunburst, as you can see in the picture above, the previous finisher has sprayed a thin red band inside the black, originally it would have been two tone. I distressed the guitar to suit the neckwear, I didn't want to go too overboard despite the quite worn neck, I think the amount I've done sits well with the neck. The results can be seen below.....

there we are...looking a lot more like it now, two tone burst with very
convincing wear and tear.....cool.....
