1964 fender stratocaster

This is Steve's 1964 stratocaster. Refinished body, lightly over sprayed neck with clay dots and original decal. Whilst Steve was happy with the neck, the body left a lot to be desired and althought supposedly refinished by a highly regarded guitar restoration outfit, the paint was thickly applied, had an 'orange peel' appearence and was poorly 'reliced'.....time for a change.....

Here the black paint and white undercoat have been stripped from the body, all is as it should be, no nasty routs or surprises!
The body was fine sanded and sealed ready for the white undercoat to go on. There was no evidence of the original finish left at all, but Steve decided to go for shoreline gold.

The white primer coat was sprayed and flat sanded ready for the colour coats. The shoreline gold was applied and left for several months to harden off properly, it was then distressed to match the neck and the guitar was re-assembled.

Here's the guitar pictured with some of Steve's other guitars, left to right, '61 sunburst strat, '62 fiesta red strat and the shoreline gold '64.....nice.
